ATV Jamboree Ride Descriptions

ALL rides require that you transport your ATV to the Designated Staging Areas. We cannot ride ATVs directly from the Jamboree Headquarters to the trails as in the past.

Please note that you will need to provide your own lunch while on the rides.

*Flags are recommended at all times but required for rides #5 and #6 at the Sand Dunes.

 Ride Difficulty Definitions

bulletEasy: These rides are almost wholly on dirt roads in the trail system, some may contain short paved or graveled sections. Some of the easy rides may include short, moderately steep sections or switchbacks.
bulletIntermediate: Intermediate rides generally include road and ATV trail portions with some steep, rough or challenging trails. A ride may also be intermediate in nature due to its length.
bulletAdvanced: Advanced rides will generally include portions that are steep, rough, and otherwise difficult to maneuver. In some cases, rides are listed as advanced because of the length of the ride.

Ride Descriptions

#1. GUNLOCK/GOLDSTRIKE LOOP:
Difficulty:  "INTERMEDIATE"
Trail Head:  The Gunlock/Goldstrike Loop will begin from a trailhead located north of the town of Gunlock, approximately one hour from Jamboree headquarters.
Route Description and Type of TerrainThe route reaches a maximum elevation of about 6,400 feet as it winds through rugged pinion-juniper mountains before descending into the Beaver Dam Wash north of Motoqua.  This affords good views of the Bull Valley Mountains, Clover Mountains in Nevada and the desert to the south as the route passes abandoned mining locations on Mineral Mountain along the way.  It then returns through the Goldstrike mining area and back to the trailhead.  This route is moderately long, +/- 60 miles.  It consists of maintained and non-maintained roads and is rated INTERMEDIATE in difficulty due to short road segments that may be affected by flooding.  Cooler temperatures may be expected on this loop.
Miles:  60 miles +/-

#2. JOSHUA FOREST LOOP:
Difficulty:
 "INTERMEDIATE"
Trail Head:
The Joshua Forest Loop will start at a location either south or west of the town of Gunlock and require one or one and one-half hours of travel time to reach the trailhead depending on the chosen location.
Route Description and Type of TerrainThe length of the loop will also vary from +/-45 to +/-65 miles depending on which trailhead location is used.  The area is largely desert terrain with abundant Joshua trees that in places create a "forest".  The loop crosses the normally dry Beaver Dam Wash at two locations.  The maximum elevation would be 4,200 feet.  Portions of the route would be considered EASY, being on maintained roads, while other portions would be considered INTERMEDIATE where lesser-used roads may be affected by flooding.
